Growing Faith in Christ through Worship and Community
What is a ministry?
The word minister in the Latin means ‘servant’. In baptism, we believe that persons are fully initiated by water and by the Holy Spirit into Christ’s body, the church. So the work that we do as members of Christ’s body is a response to our baptismal call and a service to Christ in the church and in the world around us.
Growing faith through worship...
There are many ministries within the church that function to support the life of Spirit’s work among us. From creating sacred spaces, to practicing the liturgy and sacraments, from pursuing Christian education and life-long formation to caring for our building and grounds, there are a variety of ministries where we can find fulfillment in serving the needs of the worshipping body. Fr. Mike Rasicci leads us as our presiding minister and priest, however we believe that we are all called to the priesthood of believers through our baptism. We are all called to share the gifts that God has given us for service in the body, whether it be in time, talent or through financial support.
Growing faith through community...
We believe that our service to Christ in the church functions to serve those in the world around us. As we are made new creations, we co-participate in God’s recreation, transformative and redemptive work in the world. We were not called to live under a bushel, but to shine a light in the darkness around us. There are a variety of ministries at Calvary that focus on reaching out to our local community and the larger global community.
